Hello all, my name is Shelby StewartI am eighteen years old, and this is the first blog I have ever written, just a heads up. I am from the great state of Colorado, born and raised and I have loved every minute of it! I have lived in the same house in Thornton, Colorado (near Denver) for my entire life. I went to a tiny private Christian school for Kindergarton- 12th grade. For my first semester of college I went to Harding University which is in Searcy, Arkansas. I enjoyed my time there but under dificult circumstances, and after much prayer, I ended up coming home and taking a semester off to helpmy dad out around my house. He and I are fixing up a rental house so until that is done that is where the majority of my time is spent. I am looking for a job and praying that I find one soon. When I do go back to school in the fall I an going to major in Interpretation and become fluent in sign language. It has always been a dream of mine to learn the language and I cannot wait to get started!
I absolutely love the outdoors!! I want to live in the mountains when I am older. I love to hike and fish and hunt and drive my truck (her name is Sylvia). I like to get dressed up fancy and wear my high heels but most of the time I am pretty casual. I adore little kids, I believe they can add years to your life! Soccer is my favorite sport and I am going to coach the girls team from my high-school this year with my dad. My dad is probably my best friend. I can go to him about anyhting, I am super family oriented. I have two amazing brothers and one incredible sister-in-law. I love to sing and spread God's message through song. I am not a fan of lasagna ,or anything involving noodles to be honest, but if it that is whats for dinner I will eat it with a smile, my mom always told me the house is not a restraunt. I am pretty compettitive and hate to lose. I have one tattoo on my foot that is dedicated to my mom who I lost to cancer on August 6, 2011.
I have been on a few mission trips with a singing group I was in 8-12 grade called Singing Youth of Denver (SYD). We would spend two weeks in various states each summer and sing in churches and then stay with memebers of the congregation each night. I have wanted to go to Africa on a mission trip for a while now and I feel like this was the perfect time and this is where God wants me right now. I am so excited about this trip I don't think I can put it into words. I'm sure you guys are feeling the same about it. I am a little nervous because I have never done anything like this before but I know that God will use me for His glory. I cannot wait to see what I am going to be learning from the people there!
Well that is all! I am excited to meet you all and get to know you!
