I'm sure most of you guys and gals have heard the phrase the blind leading the blind.  That's how I feel right now righting this blog.  Except I'm the blind guide and the blind follower until 5 seconds ago I didn't even understand what a blog was supposed to do.  Anyway hopefully this isn't too painful for any readers.

My name is Charles Dornish, but I go by Tommy.  I'm 20 and go to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln so I'm a Cornhusker and proud of it.  I'm studying Finance and other boring jazz like that.  I love sports and any competition.  I like to turn just about anything into some kind of competition.  I would say my favorite sport is golf but I also love baseball, soccer, and football.  My dad is retired Air Force so I moved around some as a child.  I was born in Maryland, moved to Omaha, then to North Dakota, then back to Omaha so I'm pretty much a midwesterner.

I pretty much just go with the flow and I think God has used that in my life.  I heard about this trip through a friend and was just like "Go for it."  Don't get me wrong I'm confident God's plan is for me to go on this trip.  A prayer I've been praying for about a year is that God would change my desires to match His desires.  I've seen a lot of the things I want in life change, but the desire to serve Him on a missions trip to the nations stayed constant so I was just like "I'm going for it God."  A passion I think God has given me is for the lost.  Lately I've been meditating on verses that just talk about the condition of lost people and I can think of so many close friends that are on their way to hell and it breaks my heart.  I can't just sit around and watch people keep following the path to hell.  Some verses that I can't get out of my head are Jonah 2:8, "Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs." and 1 Corinthians 1:18, "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."  I can see how true these verses are when I look around me.  I figure I've got to do what I can for the little amount of time I have on earth to share the gospel of Christ Jesus.  Anyway that's me and I'm definently looking forward to meeting you guys!
